Brit engineer returns £2m paid by mistake to him by employer

London, Feb 25 (ANI): A turbine blade engineer in Britain has been lauded for his honesty after he repaid 2 million pounds that had been given to him by mistake by his employer.

The engineer, who earns 2,000 pounds making turbine blades at Alcoa Howmet in Exeter, was stunned when the massive amount appeared in his monthly salary.

But before the company even noticed the money was missing, the employee contacted his manager.

"It is a good example of the quality of people we have at our company. The sum of money involved was a significant amount," the BBC quoted an Alcoa spokesman as saying.

The company said the matter was being taken seriously and the employee's honest and prompt action would be recognised.

"We are very happy that this employee acted so quickly but we are also looking into the incident," the spokesman said.

"We are obviously very pleased that the person acted in such an honest and immediate way and showed so much integrity," he stated.

The overpayment would probably have been traced "within days" and the employee would have been asked to repay it if he had not done so voluntarily, the firm added. (ANI)
