Bhupen Hazarika hospitalised

Guwahati, Feb 24 (PTI) Eminent artist and musiccomposer Bhupen Hazarika was admitted to a private hospital inGuwahati this evening following respiratory ailments.

The 85-year-old music legend complained aboutdifficulty in breathing after attending a programme at the SriSri Sankardeb Kalakshetra and immediately taken to the nearbyHyyat Hospital where cardiologists and critical care doctorsattended on him, his family said.

Describing his condition as "not serious", hospitalsources said he would be kept under observation.

A series of medical tests would also be conducted onhim before deciding on the next course of action, they added.

The Dadasaheb Phalke award winner and ''Assam Ratna''had undergone a coronary bypass surgery in August 2009 inMumbai.

Kalpana Lazmi, Hindi filmmaker and partner ofHazarika, who has also been crowned as the ''Golden Voice ofAssam'', was by his side at hospital.
