Anomalies in pay revision to be rectified: Isaac

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 24 (PTI): The anomalies inrevised pay scales of government employees would be rectifiedby the anomaly committee within six months, Kerala FinanceMInister T M Thomas Isaac, said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said employees wouldget their revised pay along with the March salary. Therevision would be effective from February and the month''sarrears would be also be paid with the March salary.

He said a normal hike had been effected for all 27 scalesin government departments. Apart from this, additionalone-step hike to five steps had been given for certain postsas per the recommendations of the Pay Commission.

In view of complaints from certain quarters, the governmenthad decided to implement the pay revision upto two steps onlyfor posts where pay had been substantially hiked. The anomalycommittee would look into the other three steps of hike andtake a decision, he said.

The committee would restructure the scales after lookinginto complaints from various sections. It had been told thatthe restructuring should be done in such a way that thegovernment would not have to bear an additional burden of morethan Rs 150 crore, he said.

The government would have to find an additional Rs 2,100crore to provide the new scales.

To a question, he said the treasury now had a balance ofRs 4,000 crore. Even if all the pending bills were to becleared in March, there would be funds in the treasury.

He said with the decision to provide rice at Rs 2 per kgto BPL and APL cardholders subject to certain conditions, thegovernment would have to bear an additional subsidy amount ofRs 27 crore per month.
