Vibrant Gujarat a big success, says Guj Governor
Gandhinagar, Feb 24 (PTI) Gujarat Governor Dr Kamla todaysaid the state has accomplished a special achievement bysuccessfully hosting the fifth Vibrant Gujarat InvestorSummit.
"The summit was unprecedented in economic history of thecountry," she said addressing the budget session of the stateassembly here.
"The effort has yielded 8,380 MoUs with entrepreneursfrom across the country as well as from abroad, paving way forinvestment of over Rs 20.83 lakh crore which shall generateemployment for millions," she said in her speech, which wasdisrupted by the Congress legislators.
"My government has been successful in ensuring thatbenefits of the progress reach other minority communities inGujarat without any discrimination for which I take pride,"she added.
Quoting observations of Sachar Committee report, Kamlasaid, "Literacy rate among Muslim community in Gujarat is 73.5per cent compared to national literacy rate of 59.1 per cent."
The per capita income among Muslim community in urbanareas of Gujarat is Rs 875, compared to the national averageof Rs 804, she said.
Per capita income among Muslim community in rural areasin Gujarat is Rs 668 compared to national average of Rs 553,Kamla said adding, "My government has organised 350 GaribKalyan Mela during the golden jubilee year and handed overassistance of Rs 4,859 crore."(More) PTI VKB PD VKV
