Turmeric prices register a rise

Erode,Feb24 (PTI) Turmeric prices registered a rise inthe markets here today compared to Wednesday''s price, marketsources said.

With Bulk buyers competing to fulfil their orders placed onthem from North Indian traders, price of finger varietyincreased by Rs 400 per quintal and root variety Rs 300 perquintal. The finger variety of the Salem Crop increased by Rs700 per quintal,when compared to Wednesday price.

More than 70 per cent of the stocks were sold.

In the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association salesyard,finger variety fetched Rs 7079 to Rs 12769 per quintal androot variety Rs 7899 to Rs 11614 per quintal.

With regard to salem crop,sources said finger variety wassold at Rs 13010 to Rs 14100 per quintal and root variety Rs11410 to Rs 11710 per quintal.

In the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society finger varietywas sold at Rs 10727 to Rs 12530 per quintal and root varietyRs 8800 to Rs 11559 per quintal.

In Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative MarketingSociety, finger variety was sold at Rs 11409 to Rs 12650 prquintal and root variety Rs 9999 to Rs 11409 per quintal.

Finger variety was sold at Rs 10789 to Rs 12608 per quintalwhile root variety Rs 10216 to 11666 per quintal in theRegulated Marketing Committee,sources added.
