Small sugar rises on fresh demand

Mumbai, Feb 24 (PTI) Small sugar prices rose at the Vashiwholesale market here today on the back of fresh buying fromstockists and bulk consumers, amid good retail offtake.

Meanwhile, medium sugar variety continued to witnessmixed pattern of trading.

Small sugar quality (S-30) spurted by Rs 4/29 perquintal to Rs 2,811/2,845 from its overnight closing levelof Rs 2,782/2,841.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) were quoted at Rs 2,831/2,921per quintal compared to Rs 2,851/2,911 previously.

The following are today''s closing rates per quintal, withthe previous rates in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,831/2,921 (Rs 2,851/2,911) and Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,811/2,845 (Rs2,782/2,841).
