Rane hits out at Shiv Sena, BJP

Thane, Feb 24 (PTI) Congress leader and MaharashtraIndustries Minister Narayan Rane has advised citizens of Thanenot to get wooed by "empty and false promises" being given byOpposition BJP-Shiv Sena combine and have faith in his party.

"It was only Congress and only Congress which canprotect the citizens, including those staying in theunauthorised structures and slums," he said.

He was addressing the citizens at the Jana JagranAbhiyan'' organised by the Thane unit of Congress last night.

Rane lashed out at the BJP, saying it had no moralright to speak about corruption in the Congress-NCP Governmentin the state. "Its party (BJP) chief had been once caught oncamera taking bribe money, and many of its leaders weretrouble over corrupt practices."When a Chief Minister''s name figured in the Adarshscam, he was asked by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to resign.

Did the BJP do the same in Karnataka?, he questioned.

Hitting out at Shiv Sena, he said its leaders haddeveloped themselves instead of ensuring the development of"Marathi Manoos".
