Probe ordered into death of Panchayat poll candidate''s kin

Lucknow, Feb 24 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh government todayordered CB-CID probe into the death of a relative of aPanchayat poll candidate in Ambedkar Nagar last year, a seniorofficial said here today.

Body of Virendra Kumar, who was relative of SumitraDevi contesting for the post of Zila Panchayat member, wasrecovered from a well in Ambedkar Nagar district on October 29last year, secretary home Deepak Kumar said.

A case was lodged at Akbarpur police station in thisregard, he said.

"Now the government has decided to hand over the probeto CB-CID for investigation," Kumar said.
