CBI to close case against Parrikar in 2004 IFFI scam
Panaji, Feb 24 (PTI) The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has decided to close the case related to 2004 IFFIinfrastructure scam against former Goa Chief Minister and BJPleader Manohar Parrikar.
Quoting a reply given by Minister of State in the PMO,V Narayanswamy in Rajya Sabha, Goa MP Shantaram Naik todaysaid "there is no evidence against Parrikar".
"The investigation against the ex-chief minister of Goais complete and evidence has not been found to be sufficientto prosecute in the case, and as such, a closure report isbeing filed," Narayanswamy told Naik in the reply.
The Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly was accused ofsiphoning crores of rupees in constructing infrastructure forIFFI in 2004 when he held reigns of the state.
The case was based on the findings of Comptroller AuditorGeneral (CAG), who had recently dropped all the chargesagainst the BJP leader.
The CBI was probing Parrikar under sections 409, 421,423, 431, 432, 463, 468, 471
