Govt has let down farmers, weavers and workers: Rangasamy

Puducherry, Feb 23 (PTI) Former Chief Minister N Rangasamyhas alleged that the Congress government here has ''let down''farmers, weavers and workers and urged people to ensure thatit was defeated in the coming elections, due in May.

Addressing a meeting of his newly launched All India N RCongress party at Karaikal yesterday, he said farmers had toprocure fertilisers from other states as they found itdifficult to get it here.

He allaged that garments meant to be handed free of cost tothe Adi Dravidars and elderly were also being procured fromother States causing strain on the exchequer and suggestedthat the huge stock of unsold saris and dhotis with governmentowned PONTEX, be used for the scheme.

He said he started his new party to ensure that peopleelected a new government so that the poor, students, workersand weaves would be taken care of.

Rangasamy alleged that all welfare measures he had broughtin or formulated were pushed to the background by the presentgovernment.
