Forest Department to plant 3.50 lakh saplings in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 22 (PTI) The Forest department will plant3.50 lakh saplings in Jammu region as part of its plantationdrive, a state minister said today.

"The forest department is looking forward to plant3.50 lakh saplings in Jammu. The saplings have been nurturedat various nurseries in controlled conditions to suit theenvironments and climatic conditions of these areas," Forestsand environment minister Mian Altaf Ahmed said.

The plantation drive, which started in January, wouldtake place till this month''s end.

A target of distributing five lakh saplings have beenset for the next year, the minister added.
