Fine of over Rs 11 lakh for illegal quarrying
Yavatmal, Feb 22 (PTI) The Yavatmal district authoritieshave slapped a fine of Rs 11 lakh 55 thousand on a localbuilder for illegal quarrying of gravel at village Waghapurwithout any prior permission, and paying royalty togovernment.
Tehsildar Rupesh Khandare said he had received acomplaint on December 11, 2010 from the ex Panchayat SamitiMember Santosh Dhawale and eight other villagers, allegingthat one Hariom Bhoot had deployed a JCB for quarrying in thisforested area.
Fine was imposed after a spot panchnama and verificationof complaint. Gravel worth over Rs 20 lakh had been illegallytaken away from the quarry.
