Embraer presents first early warning, control plane to India

New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) Brazilian plane maker Embraerrolled out its first of the three aircraft, equipped withindigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems, whichwill be inducted into the IAF, the DRDO said here today.

"The first of the three Embraers that we have ordered wasrolled out yesterday in Brazil and is integrated with theindigenous radar provided by us," DRDO spokesperson Ravi Guptasaid.

The aircraft is likely to be brought to India in themiddle of this year after going through a series of tests andcertification process, to be conducted by IAF and DRDO, hesaid

"The aircraft has been slightly modified to house theAEW&C radar and other on board sensors. Since the platform iscompletely ready we will now conduct the series of requiredtests before it is handed over to the Air Force," he said.

The Embraer aircraft features an in-flight refuellingsystem, satellite communication capability and a set ofaerodynamic and structural changes.

The advanced radar has been developed by the Centre forAirborne Systems (CABS).

DRDO chief V K Saraswat, Air Marshal Daljit Singh andseveral senior officials from the Indian Embassy in Brazilwere present during the roll out function.
