UP Council adjourned sine die, budget and other bills passed
Lucknow, Feb 22 (PTI) Amidst protest by oppositionmembers over a bill that proposes indirect elections formayors and chairmen of urban local bodies, Uttar PradeshLegislative Council was today adjourned sine die before itpassed the state budget and other bills.
As soon as the House met for the day, oppositionmembers including those of SP, Congress and BJP jumped intothe well raising slogans against the government forcingadjournment of the Question Hour.
The opposition members were protesting against thebill for amendment in the local bodies act and sine dieadjournment of the state Assembly.
When the House assembled again after an hour, theopposition members once again jumped in the well and shoutedslogans.
Amidst din, the state budget and other bills weretabled in the House and passed with voice vote after whichChairman Ganesh Shanker Pandey adjourned the Council sine die.
The state budget and bills had already been passed bythe Assembly yesterday.
