Sitaram Jindal Foundation announces India's biggest cash prize for humanitarian service
New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): Sitaram Jindal Foundation, one of the leading not-for-profit organizations, on Tuesday announced the launch of India's biggest cash prize-Jindal prize, wherein Rs 50 million shall be awarded to individuals and institutions annually to recognize their exceptional efforts rendered in different categories towards upliftment of people in the country.
Five prizes of Rs 10 million each shall be conferred for categories-rural development and poverty alleviation; health-including drugless therapy; education with emphasis on moral upliftment; science, technology and environment; and peace, social harmony and development.
"It is ironical that while we have big awards for cricket, films, politics etc., which attracts media partner and attention besides being televised on national TV channels," said Dr. Sitaram Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director, Jindal Alumni Limited; Founder and Patron, Sitaram Jindal Foundation and Jindal Naturecure Institute.
"We do not have a large cash prize of national stature for individuals and institutions, who work relentlessly and selflessly towards serving the mankind. Jindal Prize is aimed at rewarding these unsung heroes and giving them their share of truly deserved recognition," he added.
The nominations received will be properly scrutinized by a Screening Committee, constituted of persons with high standards of integrity, morality and treasured expertise in various fields. The recommendations of the Screening Committee will be passed on to the jury.
Sitaram Jindal Foundation will award the Jindal prize in October/November at New Delhi. The awardees shall be conferred with a momento, a citation and the cash prize component. One of the most highly placed and revered personalities of the country shall preside over the event befitting the occasion.
A charity arm of Jindal Alumni Limited, Sitaram Jindal Foundation has been engaged in humanitarian service since 1969 with focus on health, formal education, vocational education, rural development, naturopathy and yoga besides many other fields especially for the weaker strata of the society.
