Rs 1149cr supplementary budget passed in Chhattisgarh House
Raipur, Feb 21 (PTI) Chhattisgarh Assembly todaypassed the Rs 1149.82-crore supplementary budget with a voicevote.
Taking part in the discussion in the House on thesupplementary budget, Chief Minister Raman Singh said theState Government had set a target to procure 50 lakh metrictonne (MT) of paddy in the current kharif season.
The Government is close to achieving this ambitioustarget, he said.
Singh claimed that BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh has thehighest budgetary allocations for programmes devoted tofarmers and the poor among states in the country.
Maintaining that his administration was concernedabout welfare of the poor and agriculturists, the CM appealedto the House to pass the supplementary budget with consensus.
Opposition MLA Paresh Baghbahara accused theGovernment of indulging in wasteful expenditure, which hesaid, was affecting the development projects.
Mohammed Akbar (Congress) alleged that the BJPGovernment was not properly utilising the money given by theCentre to deal with the Naxal problem.
The supplementary budget was later passed with a voicevote.
