Clash not related to land acquisition: UP government
Lucknow, Feb 22 (PTI) Claiming that the clash between PACand farmers in Gautam Buddha Nagar was not related to landacquisition, the Uttar Pradesh government today ordered aCB-CID probe into the incident in which five persons wereinjured.
"The incident has nothing to do with land acquisition. Ittook place when some unscrupulous elements entered intoscuffle with PAC personnel, who were returning to Lucknow forensuring security of Chief Minister Mayawati during hervisit,"Additional Cabinet Secretary Ravindra Singh told reporters.
He said that a CB-CID inquiry has been ordered into thematter.
Chief Minister Mayawati said that the visit of JD(U)leader Sharad Yadav at the spot, without information wasunfortunate and just an attempt to politicise the issue causeddue to unscrupulous elements.
Five persons, including two PAC jawans were yesterdayinjured when they clashed in GB Nagar area.
"Two vehicles of 32nd battalion of PAC were interceptedby farmers, who were already sitting on dharna in Paswalvillage in Damkaul. The farmers indulged in unprovoked brickbatting and opened fire several rounds," Special DirectorGeneral Brij Lal had told reporters here.
