Tension at OU as Telangana students take out a rally

Hyderabad, Feb 21 (PTI) Tension prevailed in the OsmaniaUniversity campus today when Telangana Students tried to takeout a "Chalo Assembly" rally which was prevented by police.

A large number of slogan shouting students tried to rushtowards the main gate of Osmania University (OU) where lathiwielding police personnel stopped them.

Police used force when another group of students peltedstones at them when they were stopped rushing towards assemblyat Adikmet flyover, a police officer said.

The call for ''Chalo Assembly'' was given by the TelanganaStudents of Joint Action Committee (JAC) in support of demandfor statehood to Telangana.

Meanwhile, a group of Telangana supporters attackedrailway station at Necklace road here damaging window panes.

However, the police chased them away.

In view of the rally, the city police has imposedtraffic restrictions causing inconvenience to public.
