Student arrested for threatening hair studio showing bald Viru

Hyderabad, Feb 20 (PTI) An engineering student who hadmade threatening calls to a hair clinic for showing cricketerVirendra Sehawag with bald head in hoardings was arrested bythe police here yesterday.

The Sleuths of Commissioner''s Task Force teamapprehended Srinivas Deshmukh, an avid fan of Sehwag fromSecunderabad yesterday, Deputy Commissioner of Police V BKamalasan Reddy said.

The 20-year-old student, a native of Bidar district inKarnataka made threatening calls to Elite Hair Studio whichhad displayed hoardings of Veerendra Sehwag, showing hisphotos with ''before'' and ''after'' the treatment that leads togrowth of hair on bald head, in different parts of Hyderabad,the DCP said.

The hair studio had entered into a contract with Sehwagfor using his photo in the advertisement.

However, Srinivas, a big fan of Sehwag, could not digestthe advertisement and wanted the hair studio to remove them.

"He made several threatening calls to Elite Hair Studiodemanding to remove the advertisements. He also called up thestudio''s head office in Delhi and threatened them to removethe hoardings and posters immediately failing which he wouldbomb their studio," the DCP said.

Incidentally, in an another and unrelated case, Srinivassent vulgar text messages to many girls, Reddy said adding "Ina span of three days Srinivas sent almost 600 vulgar messagesto a girl."

Following a complaint, Srinivas was apprehended also forviolating the provisions of IT Act and he was handed over toCyber Crime Police, the DCP said.
