Person immolates self as information sought under RTI denied
Kutch, Feb 21 (PTI) A person immolated himself infront of a local government office at Rapar town of thisdistrict after he was denied information on a land issue,police said.
Jabbardan Gadhvi(42) had sought information on land inTavri area which was not supplied to him, they said, adding hehad sat on fast in front of the office of the mamlatdar fromSaturday last.
This morning, he poured kerosene and set himself afirein front of the state government office, police said addingthat he died on the spot.
"A man named Jabbardan Gadhvi died after he sethimself on fire in front of Rapar town mamlatdar office,"Kutch District Collector M Thennarasan confirmed.
A group of eight to ten people angry over the death ofGadhvi broke window panes and glass doors of the mamlatdaroffice.
Thennarasan said an assistant collector has been sentto the spot to enquire about the situation.
