Over 200 employees detained for taking out rally in Jammu
Jammu, Feb 21 (PTI) Over 200 government employees weretoday detained for taking out a rally towards CivilSecretariat in support of their demands for release of arrearsof sixth pay commission to the employees of the state.
Led by Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), who calledfor a ''Secretariat Ghaero'', government employees took out arally from Shahidi Chowk area but were intercepted by policeat Residency Road area of the city.
Raising anti-government slogans, the employees had ascuffle with police, which later detained over 200 employeesand dispersed rest of them by cane charge.
They were taken to District Police Lines (DPL) and arelikely to be released later in the day.
Employees of various government and public sectorundertakings have extended their support to the call.
Protest demonstrations have been held at various districtand tehsil headquarters in the region in support of theirdemands.
