MLCs protest as Governor skips reference to Telangana demand
Hyderabad, Feb 21 (PTI) MLCs from Telangana region,cutting across party lines, today protested over the Telanganademand not finding a mention in Governor E S L Narasimhan''saddress to the joint session of the state legislature on theopening day of the Budget session.
Congress MLCs G Bhanu Prasad, P Sudhakar Reddy, KYadava Reddy and others expressed anguish in the legislativecouncil today as no reference was made to the pro-Telanganaagitation in the Governor''s address.
"There was not even a word about the Telangana demandwhen such a massive agitation is taking place. There is anon-cooperation agitation going on in Telangana," SudhakarReddy said.
They sought that the Telangana demand be included inthe Governor''s address now.
Council Chairman A Chakrapani said he had already askedthe members to submit amendments to the Governor''s address asper rules and the time for submitting the recommendationsexpired on February 18.
The protesting members urged him to see if their requestcould be accommodated.
Former Chief Minister K Rosaiah observed that amendmentsare made to the Governor''s speech only after a debate.
Social Welfare Minister P Satyanarayana said the issuewas not included in the Governor''s address because the matterwas being examined by the Centre. .
