Jaya asks AIADMK cadre to desist from celebrating her birthday
Chennai,Feb21 (PTI) AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today appealedto party workers to desist from celebrating her birthday onFeb 24 and said they should rather use the opportunity to takea vow to defeat DMK in the state assembly polls, due in May.
"I generally don''t like to celebrate my birthday. But if myparty workers still insist on celebrating it, they shouldrather do that by organising blood-donation and mass-feeding,"she said in a statement here.
She said DMK rule had taken the state backwards as it wassuffering from various issues including power cut, price riseand illegal sand mining, among others.
"The party workers should vow to reinstate the good ruleof MGR (party founder and her mentor M G Ramachandran) andthey should take a vow in this regard on my birthday and worktowards this," Jayalalithaa, who turns 63 on Thursday, said.
It would indeed be celebration time if the people gavetheir verdict in the party''s favour at the hustings,she said.
