Former Bru rebels get rehab money

Aizawl, Feb 21 (PTI) As the last part of therehabilitation package, the government of Mizoram were payingformer Bru Liberation Front of Mizoram (BLFM) cadres Rs 30,000each, official sources said here today.

The rehabilitation money was being given to 152 formerrebels this time at the Mamit deputy commissioner''s office inMizoram-Tripura border.

Altogether 804 BLFM militants had surrendered to theMizoram government in 2005 and were paid Rs 50,000 each out ofthe agreed Rs 80,000 at the time of surrender.

While 489 former Bru militants had already been fullyrehabilitated, many others had gone missing, the sources said.

"After disbursing the remaining amount (Rs 30,000) to152 people, the rest of the former insurgents would be givenfull rehabilitation after they are formally identified," theofficials added.
