Bus driver attacked by gang, hospitalised

Rajapalayam, Feb 20 (PTI): The driver of a Tamilnadu StateTransport Corporation bus was seriously injured when a twomember gang attacked him with sharp weapons at the bus standhere today, police said

The driver was on his way to a nearby tea shop when twoarmed youths accosted him and hacked him on the head,shoulders and hand, before fleeing, police said.

Local people, who heard the driver''s screams, rushed him tothe Government Rajaji hospital in Madurai, where he wasadmitted to the Intensive Care Unit. His condition is statedto be stable.

A special team had been formed to nab the accused, policesaid.
