Birth anniversary of ''The Mother'' celebrated

Puducherry, Feb 21 (PTI): People from across the countrythronged the premises of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram heretoday and offered prayers on the occasion of the 133rd birthanniversary of ''The Mother''.

The devotees meditated around the samadhis of The Motherand Sri Aurobindo between 6 AM and 6.30 AM.

The Mother (Mirra Alfassa) took over the reins of theAshram after Sri Aurobindo, her spiritual mentor, attained"Samadhi" in 1926.

She established the Sri Aurobindo International Centre ofEducation opposite the Ashram in 1952 and also theInternational Township of Auroville 10 km away from here in1968.
