Adequate facilities for cancer treatment in Malabar area''

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 21 (PTI) The Kerala governmenttoday said it has put in place all facilities for treatingpatients at the Malabar Cancer Centre at Thalassery.

Another centre for cancer treatment would be soon opened atMavoor in Kozhikode, health minister P K Sreemathi said,replying to questions in the assembly.

She said medical colleges in the state currently did nothave dearth of doctors. The department proposed to sendtechnicians abroad for special training as new equipment hadbeen installed in medical college hospitals, especially atThiruvananthapuram medical college hospital.

The CT and MRI scan facilities in all medical collegeswere functioning round the clock, she said.

The Minister said the Medical Council of India hadalready approved the increase of 150 medical seats in Thrissurand Alappuzha medical colleges.
