Additional funds sanctioned for development works in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 20 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir ChiefMinister Omar Abdullah today sanctioned additional funds tothe tune of over Rs 10 crore for speeding up development worksin the summer capital.

Omar made the announcement after chairing a reviewmeeting of the Srinagar District Development Board here.

The Chief Minister noted the pace of work on somemega projects was slow and said this needed to be expedited.

He cited the example of Hyderpora Flyover projectwhich had missed several deadlines over the past five years.

Omar advised the executing agency to speed up thework on the flyover bridge from Jehangir Chowk to Natipora forsmooth flow of road traffic.

The Chief Minister hoped the Lakes and WaterwaysDevelopment Authority would speed up work on plots for therehabilitation of Dal dwellers.

A satellite town would be developed to reducecongestion in Srinagar, he said.

The Chief Minister said a bypass road from Galandarto Narbal, covering the entire periphery of the summercapital, was being developed.
