PM hopeful of peaceful, productive budget session of Parliament
New Delhi, Feb 20(ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Sunday said that he is hopeful that the upcoming session of Parliament will be peaceful and productive.
"The government on its part is ready to discuss on any issue which may be brought by the opposition. So, I'm hopeful that this will be a peaceful and productive session of Parliament," Dr. Singh said after the all-party meet held in the national capital.
"Lots of legislative work has to be accomplished. The Budget of the Central Government has to be passed. This, therefore, is truly the most important session of Parliament," he added.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said that a proper atmosphere has been formed up for the smooth running of the Parliament.
"They were concerned about the various burning issues facing the country. And they have suggested what all issues facing the country. And they have suggested what all issues should be discussed on the floor of the House," Kumar said.
"I hope we will find time to discuss on each one of them. This time I'm very convinced that we are going to run the House without disruption," she added.
Kumar also informed that the Railway Budget is being scheduled to be put up on February 25, and the General Budget is to be put up on February 28.
She further stressed on the fact that both the ruling coalition and the opposition were working an amicable way out for the smooth running of the Parliament. (ANI)
