New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) Hours ahead of the all-partymeeting to resolve the JPC issue, NDA convenor Sharad Yadavtoday dropped enough hints that the Opposition would not berigid on its demand for including CWG and Adarsh scams intothe ambit of the parliamentary committee to probe the 2G scam.

Yadav also appeared open to the idea of fixing a timeframe for JPC in sync with the government''s view that tenureof such a panel should not be "open ended".

A sources in the government had earlier told PTI, "Wedefinitely do not want JPC tenure to be open ended. We wouldnot like the JPC probe into the issue to go and on till thenext Lok Sabha elections and malign the government byselective leaks. Also, we are clear that such a probe shouldonly be covering the 2G issue."

Asked by reporters whether the Opposition is agreeablenot to insist on a JPC to probe all the three issues andwhether it would accept a fixed tenure for JPC, Yadav said,"We are open to discuss all these things."

When pressed further on the issue, Yadav said, "It isupon the government to decide the tenure of JPC," a furtherindication of the Opposition softening its stand on the issueahead of the all party meeting.

Maintaining that though the Opposition wanted the JPCto probe all three issues of 2G spectrum, Adarsh HousingSociety scam and CWG mess, he said "we are open to discussit."

The JD-U chief has similar views about the isssue ofthe membership of JPC. "We are not rigid on it. Members couldbe 20 30," he said, expressing confidence that a JPC could beannounced on February 22, a day after the budget sessionbegins.

BJP has already agreed to give the government a day''stime to announce JPC after the budget session begins tomorrow.
