International Trade Centre in Kashmir still a dream due to J.K government's neglect
Srinagar, Feb.20 (ANI): The project of setting up the International Trade Centre in Srinagar remains a distant dream for the traders, as the state government has failed to start the construction process.
The project of setting up an International Trade Centre in Pampore area of Srinagar still remains in its initial stage and the locals blame government for not taking initiatives towards the project.
"It has been three years and the site is still remaining in the same stage as when the foundation stone has been laid down. Only that foundation has been done and no step has been taken in its progress,"said Khurshid Ahmad, a local.
The project is expected to help the traders by boosting the trading activities of the region and would encompass all business and corporate offices within the centre.
About thirty five million projects received sanction from the federal government in 2005 after that the state government identified around 378 kanals of land at Pampore for the purpose.
Following the sanction, in 2007, then Commerce Minister Jairam Ramesh and then Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad laid the 'foundation stone' of the ITC and no progress has been made since then. (ANI)
