Indians in Libya safe: Govt
New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) India today said its nationalsand Indian companies in Libya are safe as that country wasrocked by unprecedented protests against the Moammar Gadhafiregime which reportedly left nearly 100 people dead.
"Indians in Libya (are) safe. The embassy is in touchwith Indians and Indian companies throughout Libya," ForeignSecretary Nirupama Rao said on the microblogging site Twitter.
Protesters in Libya have been demanding ouster ofGadhafi, who has been in power for 42 years. According torights bodies, security forces have reportedly killed nearly100 anti-regime protesters in the last one week.
