2 held for murder of a man

New Delhi, Feb 19 (PTI) Two persons have been arrested inconnection with the murder of a man whose body was found in aforest area of Ruchi Vihar in Rangpuri in South Delhi, thepolice said today.

Sonu Dhaiya, 24, and Suraj alias Sonu, 21, were arrestedfrom Rangpuri bus stand as they tried to flee after seeing thepolice.

The police also recovered from the duo ATM cards, mobilephones of the victim, the belt allegedly used to strangulatethe man and Rs 27,000.

With the arrest of the two persons, the police claimed tohave solved a blind murder case of February 11 in which aman''s body was found from the forest area of Ruchi Vihar inRangpuri. The same day, the body of a woman, stuffed in a bag,was also found from New Delhi railway station.

The dead has been identified as Bansidhar Patra who wasworking as safety supervisor with a private company atMahipalpur Extension of Delhi. He was a permanent resident ofOrissa.

The police said investigation confirmed that the victimwas last seen with Sonu, a private labour contractor of thesame company through which Patra used to get labourers forcompany work.

Also, during interrogation, Sonu said Patra was demandingcommission and a new mobile phone from him as he was earninggood money by providing labours. Patra also allegedlythreatened to have him removed and hire a new contractor ifhis demands were not met.

Sonu, resident of Sonipat in Haryana, shared his problemwith his friend Suraj and both decided to kill Patra.

As per the plan, Sonu bought sleeping pills and on theevening of February 10 invited the victim to his room inRangpuri for a party and handed over the commission and mobilephone as gifts.

All three had liquor and while drinking Sonu mixed twosleeping pills in Patra''s drink.

After this, they asked Patra to go for a walk and tookhim to the forest in Rangpuri. After reaching there, they beathim and strangulated him with the belt, a senior policeofficer said.

They took Patra''s purse, mobile phone and ATM cardsfrom his pockets and to ensure that they were not identifiedremoved Patra''s clothes leaving only underwear and socks onhis body.

They disposed off his clothes in a dustbin at Rangpuriand also withdrew Rs 68,000 using his ATM cards in Delhi andHaryana.
