WB govt to decide on moving SC after receiving HC order

Kolkata, Feb 18 (PTI) West Bengal government today saidit will consider moving the Supreme Court after it gets thecopy of the Calcutta High Court order directing it to handover the January 7 Netai massacre case to the CBI.

"We have not yet received the copy of the High Courtorder. We have to go through it. Then decision to move theSupreme Court will be taken after studying the ground," stateChief Secretary Samar Ghosh said here today.

Asked if he was happy with the CID probe into themassacre of nine persons at Netai village near Lalgarh, thechief secretary said "the CID had given its report to theCourt".

To a question on whether the CID had been failing whenthe court had been ordering handing over of cases after casesto the CBI, Ghosh said "this is the decision of the HighCourt."

"State government thought it wise to ask CID to probethe Netai case. Now the Court found it should be handed overto the CBI," he added.

Asked if the monitoring of the case was not properlymonitored, he said "senior officers have supervised thecase".

RSP leader Khsiti Goswami, who had in the past criticisedthe government on various issues, said "We have to face itbecause we are in the same boat." PTI AKB PB KK
