Two govt officials kidnapped near Noida

Greater Noida, Feb 18 (PTI) Two officers of the YamunaExpressway Industrial Development Authority were allegedlykidnapped by farmers near here this evening.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer R K Singh and DeputyCollector S P Singh had gone to Dankore area for negotiationswith farmers over compensation for land when they werekidnapped, police said.

The District Magistrate, SSP and other senior officialswere present at the site of negotiations, where the farmersgot provoked and became violent, the police said.

Police had to resort to cane charge in order to controlthe agitated farmers.

In the melee, farmers kidnapped the two officers and tookthem to an unknown destination, police said.

A police team was searching for the officials till latenight but was not able to trace the kidnapped officers. PTICORR
