People of Netai will get justice: Mamata
Kolkata, Feb 18 (PTI) Trinamool Congress chief MamataBanerjee today welcomed the High Court''s decision to hand overthe Netai firing probe to CBI, saying she believes the peopleof Netai would get justice.
"I have full respect and faith in the Constitution andnow, I hope, the people of Netai will get justice," Banerjeetold a press conference here today.
She alleged that the CID had been used to protect CPI-Mcadres, who had guided the investigative agency leading tonon-delivery of justice to people in the 35 years of LeftFront rule.
"I don''t blame the CID officers because they have notbeen allowed to work freely by the State Home Department andthe agency has been used to protect the interest of the rulingCPI(M)," Banerjee alleged.
She alleged that from the Tapasi Malik murder case toNandigram firing, from Jnaneswari to Sainthia train accident,there had been no proper investigation and common people hadsuffered.
"The court has given an order which will onlyconsolidate democracy," Banerjee said.
Trinamool Congress MP Subhendu Adhikari told reportersthat family members of the victims killed or injured in thefiring had been praying for a CBI probe.
"The order has come as a great joy for the people ofNetai as the feeling there is that there should be a CBI probeas an impartial inquiry was not possible by the CID since theallegation was against CPI-M cadres and leaders," Adhikarisaid.
