Govt bans export of milk powder, casein
New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) The government today bannedexports of milk powder and its products to boost domesticsupplies and check rising prices of milk.
Besides, export of casein and its products, a proteinderivative of milk, has also been banned by the CommerceMinistry.
Milk prices have risen by about 20 per cent in the retailmarket and by 12 per cent at the wholesale level in the lastone year, adding to the food inflation which is well into thedouble digit.
The ban will apply to skimmed milk powder, whole milkpowder, dairy whitener and infant milk foods "till furtherorders", Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said. PTIRR MJH PC SA
