Google Reader App for Android gets update

California, Feb 18: Google has announced an update for its Google Reader app for Android devices. Google added some new features like 'Unread count widget', 'News ticker widget' and 'Mark previous as read' to the app.

Google said these are the most requested features by users around the globe. Also, Google added the an official Russian translation.

New features on Google Reader app for Android:

Unread count widget - This widget helps users to get the unread feed, label, person, or all items on home screen,

News ticker widget - This large size widget shows the news items on homescreen. Clicking any headline will go to the article, while clicking the folder will take to that stream,

Mark previous as read - Users can mark their previously read items on reading list using this widget.

Users can download this app, that runs Android 1.6 or higher, from Android Market. But users should have Android 2.2 Froyo OS to get the new Widget functionalities.
