Snatcher arrested

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) A youth, wanted in more than25 cases of snatching, has been arrested from near Sultanpurimetro station in the capital, police said today.

22-year-old Mohammad Shahid was arrested from near themetro station yesterday on a specific input that a notoriouscriminal would visit there to commit crime, they said.

A trap was laid and when the informer pointed out, amotorcycle borne youth was intercepted but he tried to flee.

Immediately, the nearby patrolling motorcycles swung intoaction and the accused was nabbed in Sultanpur area after abrief chase, they said.

According to the police, Shahid had also snatched anexpensive mobile handset from a doctor near Mayur Vihar metrostation.

Police has recovered the mobile phone and a motorcyclewhich he used in the crime.

On interrogation, the accused said that he was anactive snatcher in East Delhi and had committed more than 25snatching last year.
