Noida DND bridge toll hike rolled back

Noida, Feb 17 (PTI) Two days after increasing the tollrates of the DND crossover bridge here, Noida Toll BridgeCompany Limited (NTBCL) today rolled back the hike after beingpressurised by Noida Development Authority.

The decision to roll back the 25 per cent hike in thefees charged from vehicles to cross over from Delhi to Noidaand vice-versa was taken after a meeting of senior officialsof the Noida Development Authority and NTBCL.

The roll back in the hike, implemented by NTBCL fromFebruary 15 without approval of the Noida Authority, has comeafter a team of the Authority was sent to the company''s officeto seal it for the reason that there was unauthorisedconstruction and renting of a floor without officialpermission.

Though earlier NTBCL officials had claimed that theycan hike the rates after approval of their board, they havenow sent the proposal for revision of the toll rates forapproval to the Authority, which has told them that the hikeshould not be more than 10 per cent.

Two years ago too, NTBCL was forced by the Authorityto roll back the rates.

The rates were then rolled back after 27 days. PTICORR
