MP sacks ADGP for negligence in duty

Bhopal, Feb 17 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Government heretoday suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP),V K Pawar for ''gross negligence in taking action againstAnti-Dacoity Cell'' which did not perform its defined duties.

Despite knowing about the cell''s involvement insuspicious activities and not taking any legal or disciplinaryaction against it reflected gross negligence on the part ofPawar following which he was suspended from the service forviolating service conduct rules, official sources said.

The cell had also shown the death of an Assistant SubInspector (ASI) Diwarilal Rawat in an encounter while the factwas otherwise, official sources said.

This was established after the post-mortem reportwhich gave a different reason for the death of Rawat thanspecified in the initial reports.

Pawar was also involved in a controversy overreleasing five SIMI activists along with the other prisonerswhose jail terms were curtailed as remission on the occasionof Republic Day or Independence Day every year, the sourcesadded.
