MCD to hold workshop on vector-borne diseases tomorrow
New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) Gearing up early to combat anypossible outbreak of dengue after monsoon season, the MCD willhold a workshop here tomorrow on community participation forprevention and control of vector-borne diseases.
The civic agency has brought out a public noticeinviting residents welfare associations, NGOs and citizens ofDelhi to "participate in preparation of strategies" forprevention of diseases like dengue, malaria and chikangunya.
Noting that aedes egypti mosquito transmitting dengueand chikangunya breeds in collection of clean water, thecorporation said community members have an important role inprevention of such diseases.
The workshop will be organised by MCD Public HealthDepartment at the civic body''s headquarters at Town Hall.
Delhi has been witnessing a large number of cases ofdengue in the post-monsoon season every year. Last year, thedengue outbreak had caused concern among several nationscoming here for the Commonwealth Games.
The national capital reported 6,229 cases of dengue in2010, out of which eight persons died.
