Goonda Act against minor revoked
Muzaffarnagar, Feb 18 (PTI) Police have withdrawnproceedings initiated against an eleven-year-old boy understringent Goonda Act after his father lodged a complaint withthe District Magistrate.
Police said that the proceeding against Saddam, a classIII student from a nearby Chosana village, were "wrongly"initiated during Panchayat polls.
Earlier, a case under Goonda Act was registered againstSaddam, son of Yakoob, on February 16 in Jhinjhana policestation of Chosana village in the district.
Goonda Act provides for preventive detention for aperiod of three months and imposes stringent conditions forsecuring bail.
Acting on a challan filed by the police, an ExecutiveMagistrate had issued a notice against Saddam followingwhich the boy''s father wrote a complaint to the districtmagistrate who ordered an inquiry into the case.
