Fresh notice to Jama Masjid Shahi Imam

Muzaffarnagar, Feb 18 (PTI) A local court has issued afresh notice to the Shahi Imam of Delhi''s Jama Masjid toappear before it in a case of alleged violation of the modelcode in the 2007 Assembly elections in UP.

Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari had reportedly used a helicopter,without permission, while campaigning for United DemocraticFront (UDF) candidate Sabir Ali from the Khatoli constituencyin the elections.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunil Kumar Arya has fixedApril 7 for the imam to appear in the court and directed himto appear before it for the next hearing.

On the election commissions'' directive, a case hasalready been registered against Bukhari, Ali and a member ofJama Masjid Advisory Committee Inam Qureshi.
