Four Lankan fishermen arrested
Rameswaram (TN) Feb 18 (PTI) Four Sri Lankan fishermenwere arrested by the Indian Navy off this coastal town andtheir mechanised boat seized for reportedly crossing into theIndian territorial waters.
Commander S Agarwal, Officer Incharge, Naval Detachment,Rameswaram said an Indian naval patrol vessel noticed the boatmoving suspiciously near the Fifth Island inside Indianterritorial waters this morning and arrested the fishermen.
They were brought to the Naval jetty here and wouldlater be handed over to the Tamil Nadu police for furtherquestioning, he said.
The fishermen are from Gurunagar town near Jaffna in SriLanka, he added.
