Aseemanand''s confession can''t be used in Malegaon case: CBI
Mumbai, Feb 17 (PTI) CBI today said that special MCOCAcourt here can read the confessional statement of SwamiAseemanand, but can not take it into consideration whiledeciding the bail pleas of nine accused in the 2006 Malegaonblast case.
The accused moved the special Maharashtra Control ofOrganised Crime Act court for bail on January 17, seekingrelief in the wake of Aseemanand''s statement.
Aseemanand, arrested in November last year for hisalleged role in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast, had said in hisconfession before the magistrate that right-wing extremistswere responsible for the Malegoan blast too.
Commenting on CBI''s stand, defence advocate Jaleel Ansarisaid it was "very unreasonable".
Blast took place in Malegoan, Maharashtra, on September8, 2006, in which 37 people were killed and over 100 wereinjured.
The court is likely to pass order on the bail applicationon March 7.
