AP Legislative Council condemns unruly behaviour of MLAs

Hyderabad, Feb 18 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh LegislativeCouncil today condemned the unruly behaviour of some MLAsduring the Governor E S L Narasimhan''s customary address tothe joint sitting of the Legislature.

Council Chairman A Chakrapani said the behaviour ofthe MLAs yesterday was objectionable and deserves to becondemned.

Strongly condemning the incident, Leader of theOpposition in the Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao asked thegovernment to see to it that such incidents do not recur.

He also condemned the attack on Lok Satta Partypresident and MLA N Jayaprakash Narayan by TRS MLAs.

Taking strong exception to the behaviour of the MLAs,Congress MLC Paladugu Venkat Rao, who was also injured in theattack on Jayaprakash Narayan, said people are now wonderingwhether they can feel safe as MLAs were attacked in theassembly premises.

Several members took exception to certain remarks ofTRS MLC N Lakshmana Rao during the debate.

Five MLAs - three from TRS and two from TDP -- weretoday suspended for seven days from the Andhra PradeshAssembly for unruly behaviour during Governor E S LNarasimhan''s address to the joint Legislature session.
