MWC 2011: Global Mobile Awards announced - List

Barcelona, Feb 17: The Global Mobile Awards has announced various awards in different categories at the 2011 Mobile World Congress (MWC). Despite of any announcement or launch, Apple grabbed the prestigious 'Best Device Award' for its iconic smartphone iPhone 4.

The Taiwan based manufacturer, HTC won the 'Device Manufacturer of the Year award' for its various technology products. During the MWC, HTC unveiled five smartphones and a tablet. Among the smartphones, two Facebook smartphones,

The world's favourite mobile game maker Rovio won two awards for its popular game Angry Birds. Rovio was honoured with 'Best Mobile App' award and 'App of the Year on the Apple Platform.' Judges opinionated that the Angry Birds, "is an application that is simple, intuitive, incredibly addictive, and perfect for 'snacking' consumption."

Google Maps app got the 'App of the Year on the Android Platform' and Herocraft & InnerActive for Zum Zum bagged 'App of the Year on the Nokia Platform' award.

Earlier during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Jan 2011, Motorola Xoom tablets won the Best Gadget Award and Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone pocketed Best Smartphone Award.
