Teachers inflicts serious injuries on ears of 40 students

Haridwar, Feb 16 (PTI) A teacher allegedly inflictedserious injuries on the ears of 40 students in Bhel districthere by hitting them with a sharp wire and left them profuselybleeding, official sources said.

Vimal Singh, a teacher at Vahini PAC School, punished thestudents on Monday for playing in the school by hitting ontheir ears with the sharp wire, they said.

Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, StateEducation Minister Govind Singh Vashisht has directed DistrictMagistrate Meenakshi Sundram to investigate the matter andsubmit the report within a week.

The District Magistrate has constituted a panel of fivemembers headed by Deputy Collector Harvir Singh which hasinitiated its inquiry into the matter, the sources said.

The parents of the students had complained about theincident to PAC Commandant Janmejaya Khanduri, the schoolmanagement and police.

Police will fully investigate the matter and the accused,if found guilty, will be punished as per the law, DIG JyotiSwarup Pandey said.
