Smoke in train compartment causes panic
Nashik, Feb 16 (PTI) The Mumbai-Howrah GeetanjaliExpress was stopped here this morning after passengers noticedsmoke coming out of one of the compartments, officials said.
The smoke was noticed at 9.30 am in the general bogieattached next to the engine in the Howrah-bound train. Panickypassengers stopped the train by pulling the chain near NashikRoad station, they said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Nashik Road Station Manager R K Kuthar told PTI that ashort circuit led to a fire in the cables connecting thecompartment to the engine.
The fire was put out by the technical staff and thetrain left for its onward journey at around 10.50 am, Kutharadded.
